long term care insurance
Overview
Long-term care insurance helps cover the costs of extended care when you can no longer perform daily activities independently, protecting your savings and providing access to care at home or in facilities.
Long-term care (LTC) insurance is designed to pay for services that regular health insurance or Medicare typically do not cover, such as assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
We work with any LTC Insurance company in order to help get you the max amount of covered services offered by your policy. Please reach out to speak to a member of our staff to see how we can assist you.
Covered Services
It can cover care in your home, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care centers, and hospice facilities
We cover all type of services but typically:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Eating
- Toileting
- Transferring from bed to chair
- Cognitive impairments like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
How Benefits Are Triggered
To receive benefits, most policies require that a licensed healthcare professional certify that you need help with at least two ADLs or have a cognitive impairment that necessitates supervision. Policies may also include a waiting or elimination period, commonly around 90 days, during which you pay for care out-of-pocket before insurance coverage begins.
Coverage and Policy Types
Traditional policies:
Cover some or all long-term care costs when needed. They may be indemnity (cash benefit) or reimbursement (repay actual expenses) policies.
Hybrid policies:
Combine LTC coverage with a life insurance or annuity component, providing a death benefit if LTC benefits are unused.
Benefit limits:
Policies typically set daily or monthly maximums and a lifetime or benefit period, often 3–5 years, though some policies offer inflation protection
